VirHostNet 2.0 (Virus-Host Network release 2.0) is a knowledgebase and a visualisation system dedicated to the network-based exploration of virus-host molecular interactions.
VirHostNet 2.0 contains high-quality information gathered and curated from public databases. Until VirhostNet 1.0, an extensive curation of scientific publication was perfomed concerning both high-throughpout and smale scale protein interaction experiments. The use of PSIMI vocabulary and the unification of protein-protein interactions onto the latest release of the most comprehensive proteic databases (uniprot/swissprot, refseq) significantly increase the amount of high-quality protein-protein interactions data available in the fields. Altogether, VirHostNet 2.0 provides to the scientist community the most complete and accurate resource of virus-virus and virus-host protein-protein interactions as well as their projection onto a comprehensive host cell protein interaction networks gathered from public databases. The VirHostNet 2.0 knowledgebase system will speed up systems biology analysis of infectious diseases and will provide new insights for antiviral drug discovery. We hope this unique resource will also help worldwide scientist to improve our knowledge on molecular mechanisms involved in antiviral response mediated by the cell and in viral strategies developed to evade and hijack host immune system.
